Adamawa NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel inaugurates new executive

Adamawa State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), state chapter, has inaugurated seven new executive members.
The new exco is led by Ibrahim Kado of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who emerges as the Chairman, Golfa Francis of Voice of Nigeria as Vice Chairman, Anselm Nuhu Kyauta of AIT as Secretary and Onimisi Alao of The Nation as Assistant Secretary.
Talatu Maiwada of NAN is the Financial Secretary, Ibrahim Abubakar of Plus TV the treasurer and Joseph Asegba as auditor.
The new exco will pilot the affairs of Chapel to the next three years.
In a remark at the inauguration, the NUJ state Chairman, Ishaka Dedan noted that the new exco emerged from screening of the electoral committee constituted by the Correspondents’ Chapel congress approved by the NUJ.
In an acceptance speech, the new Correspondents’ Chairman, Ibrahim Kado, pledged to operate open-door policy for all members.
He instantly named a 5-member committee with the tasks of effective taking over of the new exco and recovery of Correspondents’ Chapel properties from the outgone exco.
The members of committee include, Umar Dankano of the Peoples Daily, Yusuf Umar of Vanguard, Freedom Haslon of the Channels TV and Austin Ajayi of Tribune newspapers.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Broadcast Media, Shareef Alhassan who represented the state Government at the election and inauguration, urged the new officials to work towards improving the welfare of members.
Alhassan promised to deseminate the results of the election held at the NUJ secretariat to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as partners in promoting government policies and programs.
The inauguration has the state vice chairman of the NUJ, Abdullahi Ibrahim, Secretary, Mr Fidelis Juckthan, former national officer, Mohammed Saidu and other members across the eight chapels in the state witnessed the occasion.
