Adamawa Police apprehend woman who sold kid brother for N400k

Adamawa State Police Command has apprehend two female suspects for allegedly kidnapping a four years old boy, Friday Okonkwo.
One of the suspects, Blessing Okonkwo, is said to be an elder sister of the kidnapped victim who sold the lad to Efunaya Nabufe, a 35-year-old woman who resides in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
Both accused allegedly admitted their crime to the state police command via interrogation carried out by the spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
Nguroje earlier disclosed that the mother of the boy, Hauwa Lawan who lives at Rimirgo in Askira Uba Local Government Area in Borno State, reported the stealing of her son to the Police on the 2nd July, 2024.
Blessing, who is an elder sister to Friday met their mother at Rimirgo sometimes last year and pleaded with her to release her younger brother to her so as to enroll him in school in Mubi since there is no standard school in Rimirgo.
The mother released the boy to her being her first daughter unknown to her that her she had concluded negotiations with Efunaya on how to sell the boy to her.
During the negotiation, Blessing was said to have deceived Efunaya that Friday is her child and that she was impregnated while in Secondary School and gave birth to him.
That she left with the boy to Mubi and sold him at the sum of N410,000 to Efunaya who later took the boy to Enugu State as both of them confessed to the Police.
In the course of interrogation, Blessing informed the Police spokesman that she had used the money and bought grinding machine, handset and gave her fiance the sum of N200,000.
The Command stated that investigation is still ongoing as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, assuring that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
