Adamawa Police arrest 3 for raping minors

Three persons have been arrested by Adamawa state police command for allegedly raping three minors in Guyuk and Yola North respectively.

The suspects, the command revealed include, Gambo Alhaji, Haladu Sam while the other one is at large from Guyuk and Yahaya Tijja from Yola North.

Confirming the arrests to journalists, the state command spokesperson, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said they were arrested in related to the raping of minors in state.

In further explanation Nguroje said, the suspects carried out the heinous crime in Guyuk local government area when the victims were coming back from Church on Sunday and other at Bakin Kogi, Jimeta. The police spokesperson said that all the suspects have confessed to the crime and they will be charged to court after the completion the investigations.

In a related development, the command also confirmed the arrest of one Yahaya Tijja of Bakin Kogi Jimeta-Yola for defiling a minor.

He stressed that, despite the sensitisation and advocacies by government and Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) on Gender Based Violence (GBV), the menace has been on the increase.

The command have therefore advice parents to always monitor the movement and activities of their children at all time.
