Adamawa State University graduates 23 1st Class, 2,594 others at convocation

The Adamawa State University, Mubi held its 14th Convocation ceremony with a total of 2,594 graduates conferred with diplomas, degrees and postgraduate degrees.

The Vice Chancellor and deputy governorship candidate to the Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Professor Kalatapwa G. Farauta in a press conference organised to marked the convocation ceremony.

She said the institution has graduated a total of 2,594 graduands at all levels of academic qualifications and degrees.

Farauta noted that Prof. Elias Bogoro, former executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, (TETFUND) was conferred with the honourary Doctor of Science, in recognition of his sterling contribution to the development of tertiary education in Nigeria.

The VC accordingly said, for the First degree, the institution has 23 First Class honours recipient.
“For the First Degrees, we have Twenty-three (23) in First Class category. In the Second Class Upper Division, we have a total of Six Hundred and Thirty-five (635), while the second Class, Lower Division, has a total of One Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty Eight (1,448) graduands. Two Hundred (200) fall under the Third Class Category and Eighteen (18) would graduate with pass degrees.

For the postgraduate degrees, where we have postgraduate Diploma, Professional Masters, Masters with Research thesis, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy respectively, the prestigious university will graduate186 graduands across our faculties.”

The Vice Chancellor, who also used the occasion to highlight some of the achievement recorded by institution to include it’s latest ranking as the 1st State University in the North East, 3rd in the entire North East including public and private universities and 79th in the country.

Also stated that five students who graduated as overall best graduating students, bagging First Class, from her last convocation ceremony and granted automatic employment on the orders of the Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, are been employed by the institution and also attending further studies on Scholarship.

Professor Kaletapwa further sad in address that a lecturer in the department of accounting emerged the best candidate in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) professional level qualifying examination for 2021.
