A new crisis has erupted again Saturday November 29, 2025 between the Wurkun, Shomo and Karimjo Communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The area has been engulfed in devastating skirmishes over the years.

The incident which started at night resulted in the loss of life and property and displacement of many residents.

Several houses, food items, and other valuables were burnt, forcing affected families to flee for their dear lives and seek refuge in neighbouring communities.

In response to the tragic development, the Vice Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Hon. Uba MunYarda, on behalf of the Chairman Vaginia Baba Bambur, visited some of the affected areas to assess the level of destructions and sympathized with the victims.

The Vice Chairman first visited Ngamu village, where one life was lost as well as Manaru and other communities that suffered extensive damages.

During the assessment visit, the Vice Chairman expressed deep concern over the renewed hostility in the local government emphasizing that no meaningful development will be recorded in an atmosphere of violence and mistrust

He passionately called on all parties involved to sheath their swords and embrace peace as the only viable pathway for progress and community stability.

MunYarda further appealed for calm, assuring the people that the Government is fully aware of the situation and is taking decisive steps to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to support affected victims within its capacity while working with security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.

“At this critical moment, unity, understanding, and genuine dialogue remain the most powerful tools for healing and rebuilding, I therefore urged community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders to champion the course of peace and discourage any act capable of worsening the already fragile situation” the the Vice Chairman advised.

Karim Lamido Local Government has witnessed constant conflicts between the diverse communities over land since the early 90’s which has continued unabated.
