The Agulu Forum has strongly condemned Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia’s actions regarding Peter Obi’s planned visit, calling them a violation of Obi’s fundamental right to freedom of movement.

The Group, APMF, argues that Obi’s intended visit, meant to express solidarity with Benue residents facing hardship from bandits, was a gesture of goodwill, not “political charity” as the Governor has alleged.

APMF challenged Governor Alia claim that Benue residents are suffering from hunger, highlighting the State’s reputation as a major agricultural producer.

The Group criticized the Governor, a Reverend, for actions deemed inconsistent with Christian values of empathy and compassion.

They urged him to publicly apologize to Obi, the people of Anambra State, Benue State, and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for what they perceive as an insult.

The Agulu Forum emphasized that Peter Obi’s status as a prominent National figure necessitates respecting his right to move freely without unjustified restriction.
