By Alphonsus Nweze, Onitsha
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate for November 2025 Anambra State Governorship election, Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has promised to soon unveil his “Ikukuoma” (fresh air) agenda that would usher in new lease of life to the citizens of the State.
Prince Ukachukwu who spoke immediately after he was declared the winner of the Anambra State APC Governorship primary, defined his Ikukuoma ideology to mean ” a clear , people -oriented, road map for progressive Anambra State, one where governance touches every household through strategic infrastructures, youth and women development, quality healthcare, education reform and a louder Igbo voice in national affairs”.
He thanked APC delegates and stakeholders for their overwhelming support, trust and belief in the Ikukuoma Ndi Igbo vision.
“Your votes were not just for me; they were a strong vote for a new Anambra—anchored on justice, development, equity, security and progress. You have spoken clearly and courageously. I have heard you, and I will not disappoint” he said.
He made it clear that the journey ahead is not for him alone, acknowledging all his co-aspirants who he described as: “co-winners”.
He extended an olive branch to them to join hands with him, stressing: “With God on our side, this journey will lead to victory not just for Ikukuoma, but for APC and the grassroots across Anambra”.
Prince Ukachukwu emphasized that the primary was not the end, rather the beginning of the journey.
He therefore called for unity, reminding every APC stakeholder that the battle ahead is a collective one that must be fought and won together.
Dr. Ukachukwu won the governorship primary with a landslide after clinching 1,455 votes to beat his distant rival, Valentine Ozigbo who got 67 votes.
JohnBosco Onunkwo got 26 votes, while Edozie Njoku gathered eight votes in the Primary that had Cross River State Governor as the chairman of the Electoral Committee.
Prof. Obiora Okonkwo had earlier on Saturday withdrawn from the race when he apparently saw the handwriting of defeat on the wall.
Paul Chukwuma and Chukwuma Umeoji had withdrawn from the race Friday when it became clear them that they would not make any headway in the primary election.
