Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo received a grand welcome from his hometown, Isuofia, as residents and community leaders rallied behind his re-election bid ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.
The event, held on Wednesday, November 5, brought together prominent sons and daughters of the community, traditional leaders, and political associates who gathered to celebrate Soludo’s leadership and achievements during his first tenure.
During the ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Patrick Ndubisi, announced a ₦200 million contribution from the Isuofia community to support Governor Soludo’s campaign. According to him, the donation was a token of appreciation for the Governor’s developmental strides and for bringing honour to his hometown.
Former community leaders and political stakeholders, including Chief Jude Okeke and Mrs. Nonso Ewulum, pledged full support for Soludo’s re-election, assuring that Isuofia would deliver a resounding victory at the polls.
In his remarks, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming show of love and encouragement, urging residents to “speak with one voice” and defend their votes during the November 8 election.
“My people of Isuofia sent me on a mission three and a half years ago. By the grace of God, I have served with dedication and not disappointed you,” he said. “Now, another opportunity has come for us to make history again. Come out, vote, and ensure your votes are counted and that they count.”
The Governor also apologized to those whose properties were affected by the state’s ongoing infrastructure projects, emphasizing that such sacrifices were made for the overall progress of Anambra State.
The President-General of Isuofia People’s Union, Engr. Fidelis Okafor, clarified that the event was not a political rally but a thanksgiving celebration.
“What we have here today is a gathering of brothers and sisters, thanking God for using our son, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to transform Anambra in less than four years,” he said. “We are proud of him and will give him 100 percent support at the polls.”
He commended Soludo’s efforts in improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and providing good governance, describing his performance as “unprecedented in the history of the State.”
Speaking to our correspondent, Mr. Andy Okafor, the Governor’s Special Assistant on Lagos Liaison Affairs, praised Soludo’s accomplishments, stating that he achieved in four years what some governors could not in eight.
“Soludo wiped away our tears and made Isuofia proud globally. Every single vote from this community will go to him,” he affirmed.
Similarly, Chief Everistus Uba, Special Adviser on Markets, credited the Governor for restoring peace in previously troubled local government areas and reducing crime by curbing the activities of criminal gangs and fake traditional healers.
Aside from the ₦200 million community contribution, various groups made additional donations, including ₦1 million from Umuada Isuofia, and undisclosed sums from the Aguata United Traders Association and Platinum Club.
The event ended with cultural displays, prayers, and a renewed pledge from Isuofia residents to stand firmly behind their son as he seeks a second term in office.
