Anambra Assembly calls for establishment of quarantine zone for health emergencies

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioners for Health, Lands and Housing as a matter of urgency to map out a span of land and construct a quarantine that will serve as a safe zone in an event of health emergency.
The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored to that effect by member representing Dunukofia Constituency, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu during the Thursday’s plenary.
Our correspondent, was there and reports that throwing more light on the motion, Honourable Ezeudu emphasized that construction of a quarantine zone will prevent an outbreak of epidermic in the state, especially Coronavirus that emanated from China and has spread to over twenty countries.
He noted that isolation is the best way of tackling the deadly disease.
The Majority Leader, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor described the motion as life saving one, noting that if anybody in the state is infected with any of the deadly diseases and is not quarantined, it will spread to all parts of the State.
Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read out the resolution to the House, while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.
Also at plenary, the House passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works to construct a link road from Oko-Amaokpala Bye-Pass through Federal Polytechnic Oko Permanent Site with a spur to the first gate of the school, along Ekwulobia Umunze road.
The member representing Orumba North Constituency, Honourable Emeka Aforka who sponsored the motion maintained that construction of the link road will usher in a new route which will decongest vehicular traffic along Oko Polytechnic road through Oko-Amaokpala bye pass around Total Filling Station Axis.
