Anambra State Baby of the Year delivered by 9.30 am on January 1, 2020 at Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, has been described as Baby of Good Fortune and Consolidation for ndi Anambra by the wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano.
Dr. (Mrs.) Obiano who was represented by Hon. Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue made the declaration at the annual programme of Baby of The Year organized by the wife of the Governor in collaboration with the Ministry. The 2020 edition was held at Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi.
The wife of the Governor stated that any time a child is born it brings good tidings and good fortune to the family, community and the State.
She noted that the new born arrived at a good time when the State Government is on course to consolidate on its development programmes and ensure the sustenance of good governance in all sectors.

Dr. (Mrs.) Obiano charged the parents to take good care of the baby and presented them with various items, including baby cot, clothing, shoe, powder, diaper, wipes, tissue, and assorted beverages etc as well as undisclosed financial support for upkeep of the child.
The Matron in charge of the Maternity Ward, Mrs. Uchechukwu Nwosu confirmed that following the onset of labour and arrival of the pregnant mother Mrs. Chinonso Obiajulu at 12.30am they took good care of her until the baby arrived weighing 4.2kg at birth.
Thanking the wife of the Governor and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Arinze Obiajulu, a businessman, from Nkpor, and father of the new born said that the wife of the Governor is indeed “Osodieme“ and commended Lady Mezue and the Ministry officials for coming to their aid and showering his family with unexpected blessing in the new year.
