About two years old leadership crisis rocking Ifite, Nteje community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has resulted in the sack of Chief Fabian N. U. Obi-led executive by the President -General of the entire Nteje community, Dr. Nnamdi Ilodiuba.
Dr. Ilodiuba after dissolving the previous executive and subsequent appointment of a new six-man Caretaker Committee headed by Chief Okwudili Muofunanya, charged them to live by their oath of office.
“You are to restore peace which has eluded the community for about two years now and you have six months mandate to restore the peace and conduct a fresh election. Ensure you carry everybody along because where there is no peace, development will be hindered,” the PG charged the new caretaker committee.
In his reaction the leader of Oyi Local Government Area legislative House, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nwabude, commended the PG for coming to the rescue of the people in Ifite village.
He said that the sacked executive refused to vacate office after expiration of their tenure which was the major cause of the leadership crisis in the community.
“We have five villages and the leadership positions are rotational. The sacked Chairman hails from Akamanator village and it is the turn of Orukabi Ifite but he refused to vacate office and that is the genesis of the leadership crisis.
“I came to witness the appointment of the caretaker by the PG. I hail the sack of the former executive and subsequent appointment of the caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the Ifite village pending when new executive will come on board”.
Continuing the leader said: “You can see that everybody is happy because the members of the committee are quality people that will take the community to the next level. With this appointment, the peace that eluded us for about two years now has been restored and we thank PG for his intervention”.
He said the development is in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s resolve to ensure peace in the state and restore security in the State.
He said the Governor has done very well in infrastructural development as well as empowerment of the youth in the State through “one youth two skills” system.
The legislative leader said Governor Soludo has equally built flyovers/roads all over the state and employed over 8,000 teachers among other developmental projects.
In his post appointment speech, the new caretaker committee chairman, Muofunanya, expressed satisfaction with his appointment and vowed not to disappoint the people by ensuring that he performed his duties to the best of his ability.
He advised the people not to have any dealings with the sacked executive, warning that whoever does that would be doing that at his/her own risk.
Muofunanya said that his target was to restore peace and move the community forward.
“We will not disappoint the people, this is a task that must be done for the betterment of the community. And definitely we will see development because the period of leadership crisis deterred development in our village,” he assured
