History was recorded in Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, as prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr. Lucky Chinedu Adimike, empowered 45 individuals with ₦1 million each through the Lucky Adimike Foundation.

The empowerment programme received a boost from the member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, who donated ₦5 million to support five additional beneficiaries.

The event was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Awka-Etiti, during the Faithspiration Initiative Night of Praise, Worship, and Empowerment, themed “Arise, Shine, for Your Light Has Come.” The programme was organised by the Faithspiration Initiative and fully sponsored by Mr. Adimike.

Several Catholic priests officiated at the event, including Rev. Fr. Barrister Johnbosco Igwe and Rev. Fr. Joshua Obiekezie, who offered prayers for members of the Faithspiration Initiative and other participants.

The occasion was enlivened by performances from popular comedians and gospel artistes, including Chioma Ezefete, Mirable Chisom, Blessed Modesta, Chief Imo, Albino Brothers, Igwe White, and Timothy Ofoegbu, among others.

Delivering a sermon titled “Six Allegations Against Christianity in Igboland,” Rev. Fr. Barrister Johnbosco Igwe stated that Christianity did not destroy Igbo culture but refined it by preserving its positive values while discarding harmful practices. He cautioned young people against blaming Christianity for societal challenges and warned against a return to abandoned traditional idol worship.

According to him, the allegations against Christianity include claims that it eroded Igbo identity, demonised traditions, weakened moral values, disempowered the economy of Igboland, hindered civilisation, and aided colonialism.

In separate goodwill messages, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, Hon. Ebuka Igwe (member representing Idemili South in the Anambra State House of Assembly), Mrs. Amaka Obi (Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area), and Mr. Emeka Ezeoke (President-General of Awka-Etiti) commended Mr. Adimike for his consistent efforts in uplifting the people of Awka-Etiti and Idemili South.

They also praised the founder of the Faithspiration Initiative, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, describing the initiative as a critical platform for youth empowerment, faith development, and evangelism.

While presenting the funds, Mr. Lucky Adimike expressed gratitude to community leaders, clergy, government officials, and members of the Faithspiration Initiative for their support. He paid special tribute to Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, whom he described as a committed and hardworking priest.

Mr. Adimike advised beneficiaries to invest the funds in productive ventures rather than using them to settle debts. He urged them to remain prayerful, exercise financial discipline, save from their profits, and strictly adhere to the guidelines of the empowerment committee.

In his remarks, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike thanked the priests, religious leaders, seminarians, government officials, members of the Faithspiration Initiative, and the Port Harcourt chapter of the initiative for their active participation and support.

The event climaxed with the presentation of gifts to Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike and Mr. Lucky Chinedu Adimike by various groups and individuals in appreciation of their contributions to community and human capital development.
