Anambra governor, Obiano visits Nkisi, Obeleagu erosion sites, promises intervention

Anambra State Government has called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene in erosion 962 site in the state.
Governer Willie Obiano made the call when he visited Nkisi-Obeleagu erosion site in the commercial city of Onitsha North Local Government Area.
The Governor, who inspected the intervention work on the erosion, said that the 35 meter deep erosion site had swallowed about 40 houses, while other neighbouring houses were currently at risk of caving in.
According to Governer Obiano, his administration is currently working on 14 erosion sites out of the 963 sites wreaking havoc in many communities in the State.
The Governer promised heavy intervention and reclamation work at the site, to prevent further threat to life and property of the people.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor said the contract was awarded to competent company and would complete re-channeling of water to the appropriate channels in less than 20 days.
The Contractor, Mr Joseph Yusuf promised to deliver on cause and commended the community for their collaboration in ensuring effective delivery.
