The widow of former Vice President, the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwueme and scores of other women in Anambra State are rooting for ex-Governor of the Cent Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo to become the next Governor of the state.
The women under the aegis of Anambra Demands Soludo, came from the 16 Communities in Orumba subclan of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the women, she recalled how Soludo’s intervention fast-tracked the rehabilitation of the Ekwulobia-Ufuma- Umunze- Ibinta road which she said resulted in easier movement of people and goods and improved economic activities in the area.
Mrs. Ekwueme said the women had resolved to take the message of ‘Soludo for Anambra 2021 Project’ to all nooks and crannies of the state.
“I urge Anambra people to rise above party politics, religion, pecuniary consideration and actualise a decision that will make our children and grand children to be proud of us.
“We’ve agreed to reach out to Soludo to accept our request.
“As mothers, we are worried and concerned about the danger of massive migration of our children to Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries and the increasing disinterest of our young ones to stay back home and make a living,” she stated
They said the state would need somebody in Soludo’s capacity who would look for new and ingenious ways to improve the quality of life of citizens and a create qualitative jobs for the teeming population.
Mrs. Ekwueme said, “That is the challenge of post COVID-19 era and that is why we are picking on Soludo out of the others aspiring to lead our state.”
