The headteacher of Community Primary School, Umunze, in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been suspended indefinitely for allowing a political campaign rally to take place within the school premises.

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, announced the suspension, stating that the headteacher violated an existing directive prohibiting political or non-academic gatherings in schools across the State.

The Commissioner expressed disappointment over the incident, describing it as a serious breach that disrupted academic activities and posed risks to the safety of pupils.

“The State government is considering legal action against the organizers of the rally for endangering the lives of schoolchildren and disrupting learning,” Chuma-Udeh said.

She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining discipline in schools and ensuring that educational environments remain free from political interference and unsafe activities.
