Anambra, Imo harbour highest number of kidnappers in South-east – Security investigation report

As kidnappers are rampaging in the country sending fears down the spines of citizens, an investigation carried out by a group of security experts in the South East zone of the country have shown that Anambra and Imo States have the highest number of kidnappers’den in the South East.

According to a report by South East Security Forum (SESF) signed by Johnbosco Odimegwu Ojukwu, Anàmbra State alone with 10 camps has the highest number of kidnappers’ camps in the South East zone of the country.

Imo State came second with nine camps in the zone, while Enugu and Abia States have two camps each.
Ebonyi States has one camp.

In Anambra State Ihiala Local Government Area and environs have the highest concentration of the kidnappers’ camps.They include: Tango 1 and 2 in Ihiala, Mother Valley in Nnewi for Nnewi camp, Burrow Pit Camp, Orsumogho in Nnewi South and Ogbunka Camp ,Orumba South.

Others camps are: Ogwuaniocha/Osomala in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Uli/Lilu, Mbosi, Ihiala Local Government, Nkwelle Ezunaka,Oyi Local Government, Orsumogho –Ihitenansa through Ukpor camp, and Ihiala camp.

In Imo State there are: Njaba camp, Aku Ihube camp, Okigwe camp, Orsu camp and Orsu 1, Ekeututu camp.

Other camps in Imo State include: Arondizuogu, Ihete, Orlu,Obibiochasi/Ihere, Orlu, Umundanze/Okporo camp, Orlu and Izombe.

In Enugu State there are only two camps in Nsukka and Nkalagu/Ikem,Isi Uzo Local Government, while Abia State equally has two camps in Ala Nso (Holy Land) Terrorist camp and Ohafia camp.

Ebonyi and Delta States have one each in Abakiliki and Ugwu Nwosu Terrorists camp,, Asaba respectively.

Efforts to get the Anambra State Police Command spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, to speak on the matter failed as his phone was ringing engaged.

But Ikenga a Superintendent of Police (SP) had earlier in a telephone interview reiterated the determination of the command to fight the kidnappers in the State to a standstill.

He was reacting to series of kidnapping in the State from June this year till this August in parts of Anambra State, where the Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and his driver were abducted as they were heading from Edo State to Uyo.Tyey are yet to be released inspite the fact that the family had paid N4.2m.

But a new dimension to the latest emboldened kidnapping was that if series of kidnapping in Onitsha, hitherto considered safe.

But it was not so again as two sons of prominent persons and several others were in recent weeks kidnapped by these kidnappers. The sons of a prominent businessman in Onitsha and a traditional ruler were victims of their latest onslaught.

Although the son of the Onitsha businessman has been released but not without collecting N7m through his handsets and his Lexus Jeep taken away.
