Anambra inaugurates COVID-19 protective centre at Umueri

Anambra State government has commissioned the Umueri COVID-19 Protective Centre, renovated and equipped by Access Bank Plc.
The Protective Centre, located within the Umueri General Hospital, Anambra East Local Government Area, was equipped to standard by the financial institution.
The centre has one hundred beds, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, thermometers, wheelchairs, air-conditioners and refrigerators among other equipment.
Commissioning the project, Governor Willie Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke thanked the Access Bank for its support which according to him, has added to the numerous efforts of the state government in combating Coronavirus pandemic and called on more cooperate bodies to emulate such gesture.
Governor Obiano, who regretted that the State had recently recorded second case of the virus, advised Ndi Anambra to always adhere strictly to preventive measures, especially, regular washing of hands, use of face mask, maintaining social distancing and avoiding public gathering to be safe and alive.
Contributing, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala described the facility as standard, disclosing that the centre will go a long way in assisting the fight against the deadly disease.
On his part, the Access Bank Regional Manager for Anambra State, Mr. Uchenna Idoko said the gesture was aimed at assisting the state government’s efforts in fighting the spread of COVID-19 as well as ensuring that no life is lost to the virus.
