Anambra journalists, activists describe late former Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna as brilliant, detribalized officer

Late former Anambra Police Command PPRO, Muhammadu Haruna

Journalists and human rights community in Anambra State have extolled the sterling qualities of the demised former image maker of Anambra State Police Command, Muhammadu Haruna, who passed away recently.
The news which broke Sunday through a press statement from Bauchi State Police Command shattered many journalists and rights activists who Haruna had worked closely with and developed robust friendship when he was serving here.

In their postings in many WhatsApp platforms in which Haruna belonged and even created they poured encomiums on his qualities as police officer who always seeks to create aquality relationship with people.

The Bureau Chief of The Nation Newspaper in South East, Nwanosike Onu, said his “meritorious career in Anàmbra State Police Command as an image maker before he was transfered had no limit.
“He helped me handle matters in both at Awka Area Command and Central Police Station (CPS) to my satisfaction. Fare thee well. Rest in peace Haruna”.

Patrick Anasor of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Awka narrated how Haruna helped to make him a hero by releasing his friend who was detained at B. Division, Awka without paying a dime after they had demanded N30,000.

In his tribute, the chairman of Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) in South East and Correspondent of Sun in Anambra State, Alloy Attah, said Haruna was good mixer and detribalised Police Officer.

He fondly recalled how Haruna would always answer his call in Igbo ” Nwannem nwoke” each time he called him on phone.

He said :”Though of different tribe and tongue, you tried to intergrate effortlessly with us here in Igbo while your stay lasted”.

The chairman of Campaign for Democracy’ (CD) in South East and Executive Director, Human Rights Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’Foundation (HURIDE),Dede Uzor A, Uzor, said he received with shock and heavy heart the demise of Haruna who he said had continued to have close relationship while he was here.

Describing Haruna as brilliant and versatile officer, Dede said while Haruna was serving here, he was one of their regular resource persons on several occasions they organized seminar especially on human rights and cybercrime.

Many others who paid their glowing tribute this gentle man officer prayed that Allah grant him eternal rest in his bossom.

Until his death, Haruna was second in Command at Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Gombe Police Command.
