Dignitaries at the Town Hall Meeting

A Town Hall meeting organized by the member representing Awka North at Anambra State House of Assembly Mr. John Nwokoye has been held in Awka North Constituency with a call for more government presence in the area.
The meeting which took place at the local government headquarters Achalla, attracted people from all walks of life including the clergy, some members of Anambra State House of Assembly, political appointees, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Victor Oye and other party faithful.
Our correspondent reports that Town Hall meeting is a platform being used by representatives of the people to interact with their constituents one-on-one.
Speaking during the event, the convener, Mr. Nwokoye, said the meeting gave him an opportunity to present his score card of his six months representation.
In his remarks the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Uche Okafor, commended Mr. Nwokoye for being the first to organize a Town Hall meeting amongst the seventh Assembly lawmakers and asked his constituents to continue to support him with their prayers.
In an address presented by Awka North stakeholders and read by Mr. Ekemezie Obidigwe, they stressed the need for communities in the area to come together so as to attract more government presence to the area.
During paper presentations the guest lecturers, Dr. Sir. Dennis Ekemezie, Dr. Ifeoma Chukwuma and Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe, spoke on various strategies through which the people of the area can attract development to Awka North.
In a speech the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Oye, said Awka North is a priority area to the State government adding that the Obiano administration is fair to all parts of the State and promised to present their requests to the Governor.
Others dignitaries at the event were former House of representative Member, Chief Anayo Nnebe, member representative Awka South Constituency One at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor, Executive Secretary Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi among others.
It would be recall that last Monday Executive members of Achalla Town Union presented Mr. John Nwokoye with an award for his outstanding performance in the Anambra State House of Assembly within six months.
