Anambra State Government has re-emphasised its resolve to sustain partnership with World Health Organisation (WHO), European Union (EU) and other donor agencies in its health management sector.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala said this while inaugurating ‘Anambra COVID-19 Medic Team’, after successful 2-Day intensive training in Awka.
Dr. Okpala commended Governor Willie Obiano’s commitment in supporting the healthcare sector of the state.
He said that the just-concluded 2-day COVID-19 case management, master trainers course for healthcare providers was co-sponsored by the WHO/EU and Anambra Ministry of Health.
“Our armour against COVID-19 is an educated and well-trained healthcare provider.
“The Anambra COVID-19 triangle depicts the medic team’s commitment to use their newly acquired knowledge to keep infection away by breaking the chain of infection with the apex of the triangle.
“There’s no confirmed case of Coronavirus in the state; yet the state government is doing everything possible to maintain its status. It has also continued to prepare in order to contain any eventuality.
“We have transformed the main Hall of the NYSC Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu to a 250 bed Protection Centre; then another Protection Centre with a High Infectious Disease Unit (HIDU) was also set up at General Hospital, Onitsha.
“Surge centres have also been set up at Ekwulobia and Umueri.
“The Anambra State COVID-19 triangle is a ‘solidarity salute’ to our fellow healthcare providers fighting in the frontlines in COVID-19 stricken communities across the globe.
“Our promise to you is that we will not disappoint you if the battle comes to our shores.’’
