Anambra State Police have arrested six young men, including Igwe Chineche, on suspicion of drug trafficking and abuse in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area.
The arrests, part of a broader security initiative, followed a raid on a suspected drug den in the early hours of June 25, 2025.
The operation, launched by Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, targeted the alleged drug network believed to be linked to recent fatal incidents in Oko.
Officers from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad seized a substantial quantity of hard drugs and illicit substances.
Arrested were Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna, all aged between 24 and 35.
They are currently being questioned to determine their involvement in the recent fatal incident and any broader criminal networks.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the operation aims to curb the rising tide of drug-related crime and cult activities in the area.
The force believes this disruption will expose deeper criminal networks and cut off drug supply lines.
The Police are determined to maintain a secure environment in Oko and its surrounding areas.
