Anglican women urge leaders to reflect godliness, transparency in governance

Diocese on the Niger women, Anambra State have appealed to the nation’s political leaders to reflect godliness, transparency and inclusiveness in their governance in order to make the country move forward.

In his 20 minutes homily marking the formal opening of the conference holding at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, the Bishop on the Niger, Rt Rev Dr Owen Nwokolo, empht that without Christ there was neither hope for the nation nor for the citizenry.

According to him, all humanity’s righteousness, labour, statuses and pride are mere rags and foolishness before God, insisting that mankind should endeavour to embrace Christ in whom he said there is life and hope for eternity.

In the sermon which theme was:”There is no hope without Christ”, Bishop Nwokolo enjoined the nation’s leadership and the led to remove anything filthy in their lives and seek after the kingdom of God and its righteousness.

“Accept Christ. Go after righteousness and godliness and make your light to shine always”, he urged Nigerians, especially, christians, reminding them of the need to fulfill certain necessary requirements for admission into the Kingdom of God.

“To inherit the kingdom of God, one must accept Jesus Christ”, he emphasized, encouraging every christian to be prepared at all times for the coming of Christ.

Highpoints of the service included administration of the Holy Communion and various renditions by the Oba Archdeaconry Chair, after which the women commenced the day’s plenary.
Earlier the bishop and his wife, Dr Elsie Nwokolo, had inspected a guard of honour, courtesy of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade at the Bishops Court, Onitsha, before moving with a convoy to Oba community where they were received with pomp and pageantry.
