A chieftain from All Progressives Congress (APC) has allegedly said the crisis and the call for the sack of the party chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal is as a result of infiltrated People’s Democratic Party within the party exco.
The chieftain who don’t want his name in print disclosed that “the agents of PDP in the state have infiltrated the party’s state executives and are working to destabilize the party ahead 2023 elections.
The source added that, “the attempt to remove Alhaji Bilal is the handiwork of those agents within the state executive council.”
However, the attempts to remove the state chairman has suffered setback as it was gathered that 24 out of 36 are sitting on the fence while 12 members state executive had so far endorsed a petition calling for the sack of the chairman.
The source alleged that, the plot for the chairman’s removal was masterminded by the party’s organising Secretary, Mustapha Ribadu.
That the plot is the fallout of the party’s last gubernatorial primaries in the state as some aspirants perceived to have lost the primaries and are still hoping that there would possible rerun and the party’s chairman loyalty is questionable.
The pioneer EFCC chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, was among those who lost the gubernatorial ticket of the APC in the state to Sen. Aishatu Binani, and had gone to court to challenge the latter’s victory.
Ribadu however, accused Binani of vote buying, and other electoral irregularities is seeking the court to declare him winner of the guber primaries and where that is not feasible order for a fresh primaries that should excludes Binani from participating.
Bilal had warded off his removal by calling the ring leaders behind the plot to shelve their plans, which they all agreed to except one of them, who’s the party’s organising Secretary, Mustapha Ribadu.
Mustapha, is said to be Mallam Nuhu Ribadu nephew allegedly being fingered as coordinating, the plot he however denied knowledge of it as well as being the mastermind of the plot in an interview.
But said, he would endorse any action calling for the removal of the chairman.
He said, ” If asked for my signature to remove the chairman, I will append it. If that is what the majority decide, I will be there.
“We are accountable and there’s an oath of office that we took, we are going to work towards our oath of office. We are not cowards, or people who leaders think they can manipulate nor the kind of persons who see something is going wrong then keep quiet.”
“Things are wrong but about removing the chairman I don’t know about it,” Mustapha added.
