APC is at edge of collapsing, please intervene – Nasarawa youths beg President Tinubu

The Coalition of Youths under the auspices of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Nasarawa State have called on President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency to intervene into the current internal wrangling rocking the party so that it would not collapse the already built good structures before 2027 general election in the state.

Engr. Idris Danjuma who spoke through the chairman of the Coallation, Mr. Massi Abdullahi while addressing journalists in Lafia, the state capital, explained that the meeting was organized to tackle the internal wrangling affecting the party and to also bring back the aggrieved members who had left the party during and after the general election in order to enable the party to maintain its popularity in the state.

His words, “We cannot denied the fact that there has not been internal wrangling affecting our party today. However, the aim of this meeting is to address the internal problems once and for all and also to resolve the problems between the agrieved members who had left for either the People Democratic Party (PDP), Labor Party (LP), or All Nigeria People Party (ANPP), among others oppositions parties in the state and the major critical stakeholders of the party and if this matter is not resolved it might spelt doom for the party in 2027.”

He alleged that it was due to the anti-party activities of some members of the party that made president Ahmed Bola Tinubu lost the presidential election in 2023 to Labour Part (LP) in the state.

“We are hear to address the internal problems that led to the down fall of president Ahmed Bola Tinubu in 2023 presidential election and we want to use the medium to woe those aggrieved members back to our party to enable us stand firm and form a formidable force against the opposition parties come 2027 general election in the state,” he concluded.

He, however, called on the president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to as a matter urgency to intervene into the internal criss rocking the party before it collapse.

“President Ahmed Bola Tinubu lost election in Nasarawa state due to the division that occured in the party during the 2023 general election in the state and is not as if that the party wasn’t popular enough but it was not be able to produce even a single senator out of the three senatorial zones in the state,” this is embarrassing he lamented.

He posited that it was high time president Ahmed Bola Tinubu intervene and call on the all critical stakeholders in Nasarawa state to order otherwise the action displayed by the agrieved members of the party in 2023 and if not urgently addressed and nip-in-the bud it would spelt doom for the party in 2027.

Our correspondent reports that governor Abdullahi Sule had last week in Government House, Lafia had a meeting with critical stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and harped on the need for internal unity amongst the party members and stakeholders in other for the APC to move ahead.

While noting that there remains a lot to be done to further unite the party, Governor Sule said this is especially so considering the disagreements ensuing before, during and after the 2023 general election.

“This is the reason why at the end of this conversation, I must beg you to forgive each other so that we can move forward.

“We can’t do all these wonderful things and allow someone to come and rubbish it. Someone who doesn’t have what we have. Somebody who doesn’t have the capacity that we have. Somebody who doesn’t have the knowledge that we have. Somebody who doesn’t have the experience that we have. Somebody who doesn’t have the commitment that we have,” he said.

The Governor equally used the opportunity to reiterated his earlier call for his political appointees nursing political ambition ahead of 2027 to resign their appointments in order not to distract his administration.

He however assured that he would do everything possible when the time comes to hand over to another APC governor in the state.

“I will support whoever comes from APC even if that person is my greatest enemy. I am promising you today that is who I will support. Definitely, I will support somebody who will come from me.
Somebody who is responsible. Somebody who is loyal. Somebody who is honest. Somebody who actually shares the vision with us to come and take over from me to come and continue to build from where I will stop,” he assured.

In his address, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Danladi Jatau, charged the stakeholders on the need to sell the laudable development strides of the present administration under Governor Sule, which would further attract more people into the party.

Mr. Jatau equally spoke on the need to ensure discipline within the party, stressing that anyone found wanting should be disciplined.

Also speaking, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, National Legal Adviser of APC, urged the stakeholders to continue to remain united in order to win future elections in the state and the country at large.

Prof. Kana, who is also a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), described Governor Sule as one of the best Governors the state has produced so far.

In his speech, immediate past governor of the state, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura commended Governor Sule for his vision, disposition and cosmopolitan ideas about ensuring economic survival and promotion in the state.

Senator Al-Makura was confident that with the number of things his successor has done through his initiative in various sectors of the economy, Nasarawa State would be a state to beat in the next few years.

He called on the stakeholders not to lose sight of the status of Nasarawa State in the scheme of things, considering the role played by the state in the formation of the ruling party.

Earlier, State APC Chairman, Mr. Aliyu Bello said that the meeting was aimed at discussing issues that would move the party forward.

“I want to thank you all for your valuable and immeasurable support which has taken the party under my leadership thus far, in our determined efforts to ensure that APC remain the leading political party in Nasarawa State.

“Our commitment towards making the party united and formidable remains unshakable,” he said.

While appreciating Governor Sule for his efforts in taking the state to the next level of development, the APC Chairman appealed to all stakeholders to put behind all disagreements, grievances and conflicts that took place during the 2023 general election.

Others who spoke during the meeting include Senator Solomon Ewuga, Hon Abubakar Hassan Nararaba, member representing Doma/Keana/Awe Federal Constituency, Hon Mary Enwongulu, Dr Zainab Ahmed, all commended Governor Sule for his developmental strides across the state while urging the stakeholders to continue to unite and support the administration.
