Following the postponement and how chaotic the rescheduled APC senatorial primaries ,which ought to have taken place on Sunday ,as at against the earlier time table which also had it that Senate primaries in the state would have been on Friday, Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji has insisted that the aborted reschedule Sunday primaries, though could not hold most be conducted.
Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji insistence was on the heels of the precieved irregularities and how the authentic delegates list was doctored by some persons in the corridors of the APC national secretariat at Abuja.
He made this known to newsmen in Keffi during a press briefing on Monday where he disclosed that the delegates list was never with the same names of delegates that were used for the conduct of the house of representative primary conducted for Toto and Nasarawa Federal constituency just as the new delegates list was also not same with the one used in the conduct of Karu, Kokona, Keffi Federal Constituency.
“And you know the senatorial zone is constitutes 5 local government areas,so where did they manufactured the list? I am aware that there was a conspiracy and upon realising that the argument I put up will consumed them ,they again went on to manufactured a fresh list.
“Whoever that is helping them to do this at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress remains a mirage And one baffling thing in all of these was that all the delegates that where used for the conduct of the house of representative primaries were moved to Abuja,yet there were others in Keffi, who were brought into the venue of the senatorial primary And the chairman of the electoral committee upin arrival at the center did not by courtesy communicated me ,when I leaned of his being around I moved to the venue and met a large crowd of people ,whereas the electoral committee chairman was Already address some large numbers of security personnels” Labaran said.
Expressing his displeasure with the process which degenerated into chaos, Magaji stated that he sought to be given a chance to meet with the delegates since they can not avail him the list, according to him, out of the 295 delegates, about 168 after presenting to them his manifestos, agreed to work and vote for him.
“I am optimistic that even the remaining balance that were put into solitary confinement and under tight security in a particular location somewhere in Karu axis with their phones ceased,I still agreed to work with the new list.
“As I speak to your right now two of my supporters were beaten to pulp with one among them who sustained injury that is still in the police custody. I asked for him to be treated and they refused that he can only be treated in the cell.They are saying the boys will only be released if I conceded, which I will not because I am not just in the race to chicken out and my insisting for the election to hold is not just about Nasarawa west senatorial district alone but in the interest of the entire state”, he said.
The Senate hopeful also said it is high time to get rid of the old system of manipulation in electoral exercise so that justice, fairness and credible elections will be enshrined in electing those that will lead the country.
He appeal to those who are interested in having the name of the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress dragged into the mud to desist.reiterating that he is not going to back out of the race like others as he is pursuing a public course, insisting that due process should be followed in order to avoid putting the party in a position where Nigerians will loss confidence and trust in it’s leaders
