APGA Deputy Chairman, YPP Chairman in Ogbaru Local Government defect to APC

As flag-bearers and their political parties prepare for electioneering due to kick-off this June, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State is making inroads into other parties as the Deputy Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Chairman of Young Progressive Party in the Local Government Area have abandoned their parties for APC.

Hon. Linus Uhuo, former Deputy Chairman of the party in the Local Government along side major stakeholders in some Local Government and Ward executive members decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbaru Local Government Area Tuesday during the Party’s stakeholders’ meeting.

The stakeholders meeting held in Iyiowa-Odekpe area of Ogbaru, and precided over by the Acting chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area of APC, Sir E.C. Ejidike, had in attendance Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, Hon. Calista Nwachukwu among other stakeholders.
The Ogbaru Local Government Area Chairman of YPP, Mr. Okwuosa Obiora Ronald, and the 16 wards chairmen of YPP in Ogbaru Local Government Area also defected to APC during the meeting.

Speaking while receiving the decampees, Sir Awogu said that Ogbaru as a people have come to embrace APC as the party of choice for the progressives.
He said that the doors of the party is wide open to receive new and quality members, affirming that days were gone when people gave APC all manner of names.
“Now I am in APC, you are in APC, APC has become our own and we have a duty to make APC work in Ogbaru Local Government Area and in Anambra State” he said.

Awogu, a former Local Government chairman of the Local Government Area insisted that the governorship candidate of the party, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu was prepared and has the best implementable manifesto, which he said would truly open up Ogbaru and Anambra State to the world.
He also said that the Deputy Chairman of the party in the Local Government, Sir E.C. Ejidike, would be the Acting Chairman of the party until a substantive Chairman is announced.

Alsi speaking, the State Treasurer of the party, Hon. Calista Nwachukwu, commended the rejuvenated spirit in Ogbaru APC and said that the confidence of winning the November 8th election is growing and called all members to join hands with the party leadership in Ogbaru to make the party victorious.
Hon. Barr. Nonso Nwebili in his remarks commended the decampees for joining the party and said particularly to the Ogbaru YPP Chairman: “that it is a common knowledge that YPP is not contesting any governorship election in Anambra State,” and praised the wisdom of the YPP Chairman to join APC.

Earlier, both the APGA Deputy Chairman and the YPP Chairman had said that their decision for joining APC was based on the light that Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu has brought to APC, assuring to work together with the leadership of APC in Ogbaru Local Government Area for the party to emerge victorious in the coming election.
Those who spoke during the meeting including , the APC Zonal Woman Leader, Hon. Pat Onyia; the APC Zonal Financial Secretary, Hon. Patrick Dara, among others, praised the rekindled spirit in Ogbaru APC and urged members to work assiduously as the task ahead is surmountable with much commitment.

Mrs Susan Obichukwu, alias Madam Morocco, a staunch woman leader in PDP also used the opportunity of the gathering to announce her defection from PDP. She requested to organize a rally where all her followers would officially be recieved into APC.

The enlarged Ogbaru APC stakeholders meeting also set up Ward by Ward Committees charged with the responsibility to fill up vacant positions in the various ward and Local Government executives of the party.
