Applicants from Nasarawa and Benue states have sent petition to the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governors of the affected states over the recent recruitment exercises conducted by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Services and Nigeria Fire Service.
In their letter of petition, the applicants, under the umbrella, ‘Concerned Applicants’, expressed great displeasure with the above federal government organizations for the unjust treatment meted on them, especially from the North central states. They urged the president and governors to act against what they described as display of unjustifiable marginalization for the applicants from the affected states.
Quoting one of the applicants who refused his name on print, “Mr. President, we congratulate you for your successful election and swearing in as Nigeria’s President. We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. We are highly disappointed in the conduct of recruitment into NSCDC ,NIS ,Correctional Services and as well as the Nigeria Fire Services and we are writing to bring your attention as a matter of national concern, and on behalf of numerous other applicants from other states.
“We would like to express our deep disappointment over the unfair treatment we experienced throughout these processes.
“It saddens us to note that despite fulfilling all the necessary requirements, none of us were considered as successful applicants, despite our diligent preparation for and after passing the examination, which we subsequently traveled to Benue, Makurdi ‘NIS’ Headquarter from our various States and Local Government, risking our lives for the physical screening and certificate verification”.
The Applicants, in their continued expression of disappointment, alleged that to their dismay, not a single one of them or a few among the applicants were deemed eligible for the positions they applied for.
They further stated that; “this blatant disregard for the rights and abilities of the Nasarawa and Benue States applicants raises serious concerns about the integrity of the recruitment exercise.
“We believe that the principles of fairness, merit, and equal opportunity should guide such processes. However, the nepotism displayed by the CDCFIB Board in this instance suggests otherwise.
“Mr. President and our amiable Governors Sirs, we implore you on behalf of Nigerian youth whom you all bowed to support for national growth to investigate this matter thoroughly.
“We are therefore seeking your intervention to ensure that justice is served and that the recruitment process is conducted in a transparent and unbiased manner. We have faith in your commitment to upholding the principles of good governance and fairness.
“Thank you in anticipation of your prompt attention to this matter. We are hopeful that you will take the necessary steps to address our concerns and restore our faith in the system”.
