Apprehension as Plateau traces 36 cases of COVID-19, preliminary tests ongoing

With a total of 900,000 infection so far across the globe, Secretary to the Government of the State and Coodinating Secretary, Plateau State Covid-19 Taskforce, Professor Danladi Atu has said the task force sub committee on health has traced 39 cases with preliminary screening conducted with those that showed visible signs had their samples taken for testing.
He said though Plateau State is yet to record a single infection in the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a news conference, Professor Atu, said eight persons who showed signs of the infection, four have tested negative while the results of the other four was been awaited.
With this, he assured that there was no cause for alarm as the government is not taking any to chance to confront the pandemic when the need will arise.
According to him, local governments councils in the state “have also keyed into the work of the State Task Force and they are replicating what we are doing at the State level in terms of sensitization and enforcement.
“As you are aware, we have been carrying out preliminary examinations at our border entry points to ensure that all passengers undergo temperature assessments. So far, it has gone well”
He added that some religious organisations who flouted the order for gathering more than 50 people last week were invited by security agencies
and are remorseful over their actions, and have “undertaking not to violate Government orders again.”
The SSG stressed that the government has established the ‘Plateau State Covid-19 Support Fund’ with some corporate bodies responding and called for more support from well meaning individuals and groups for the purpose of providing succour for the needy.
