Armed forces remembrance day: Gombe governor, Yahaya donates N5m to Nigerian Legion

Gombe State Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya Thursday donated N5million as part of state government contribution to the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion as part of the armed forces remembrance day.

He also donated N1millon as his personal gift to them.

Governor Yahaya while emphasizing the need to support Nigeria Legion called on individuals as well as corporate bodies to show sense of humility by supporting the ex-service men.

He said their support is paramount where they fought gallantry to defend the nation.

He assured that his administration remain committed to support their request they tendered before government.

According to him, as part of government we will do everything possible to ensure that Nigeria Legion have sense of belonging in the society.

He appealed to them not to hesitate in using their experiences and support our communities by safeguarding lives and property of citizenry.

Speaking earlier, the chairman Nigeria Legion, Gombe state chapter, Warrant Officer David Kadiri (rtd) appreciated the governor for his foresight where alot of projects in the state have been achieved tremendously.

He appealed to governor Yahaya look into their problems and assist them with a piece of land to build a secretariat.

Warrant officer Kadiri also said that there is need for government assist their children with scholarship in order to back their education and also members of the Nigeria legion should be giving appointments as security guards in various organizations.
