Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Gombe Governor, Yahaya promises willingness to continue to assist security agencies to maintain law, order, praises gallantry of armed forces

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, lays the wreath at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has promised his administration’s willingness to continue to assist security agencies in maintaining law and order in the State in the face of security challenges facing the country. 
He, however, called on the citizenry to continue to show solidarity and support to the living and fallen heroes as well as their families in order to boost their morale.

Yahaya, was speaking in an interview with Journalists shortly after leading dignitaries in the wreath laying ceremony marking the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in honour of the nation’s fallen heroes held at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe on Friday.

The Governor also praises the courage and sacrifice of Nigeria’s serving and non serving armed forces in defending the territorial integrity of the country despite the numerous security challenges has been praised.
The Governor also said that the ceremony offers the opportunity to reflect on the contributions made by members of the armed forces in and out of service who laid their lives for the survival of the country.

Dignitaries who joined the Governor in the laying of the wreath at the symbiotic tomb of the unknown soldier,  included the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau,  Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon.  Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo and the State Acting Chief Judge,  Justice Muazu Pindiga. 

Others were the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu, Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment, Major J. David,  Emir of Gombe, State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion among many other dignitaries.
The Governor had on Thursday, 14th January, launched the 2020/2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Fund with a donation of N5 million on behalf of his government and a personal donation of N1 million to support the families of the ex-servicemen. 
Special prayers were offered by both Christian and Muslim military clerics for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes and for the peace of Gombe state and the nation in general.
