Assault on Corps member: Former security personnel arraigned, hearing set for January 14
By Sunny A. David, Awka
Four former operatives of the disbanded Operation Udo Ga-achi security outfit have been arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, Anambra State.
The defendants—Emmanuel Samson (29), Jude Obasi (43), Ndudirim Michael (28), and Nweke Ezinwanne (27)—were charged alongside Emeka Emetumba, Nwanne Afuonu, and others still at large, in a seven-count charge filed by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police.
They are accused of conspiring to commit a felony by indecently assaulting a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, inflicting physical injuries, unlawfully stripping her naked, and using intimidation. The incident allegedly occurred in Oba, Idemili North Local Government Area.
All four defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following a bail application by the defense counsel, Chief Magistrate U.E. Onochie granted bail to the accused. The case has been adjourned to January 14, 2026, for a definite hearing.
