At Phoenix University, we offer programs not common to public varsities -Registrar

The Registrar, Phoenix University, Agwada, Aisha Abdulkarim Kana has said the ivory tower of learning is making a difference in the education sector.

Speaking to Apex News Exclusive, at the university campus when the organization came visiting, the Registrar pointed out that, making the difference is the varsity’s main goal. She said the first thing Phoenix University has done differently is to introduce programmes that are not being ran in some of the government universities within the clime, like B.Sc in Cyber Security, B.Sc, Forensic Sciences, and the introduction of Robotics. “We have the Robotics Lab. We are planning to commence programmes in that regard”, said said.

Phoenix University, Agwada, a first indigenous private university in Nasarawa State is founded by the immediate past National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, (APC) who was the first executive governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu. The university in November last year had her first Matriculation and Investiture of the Vice Chancellor, admitting 260 pioneer students. The event brought together many great Nigerians from all walks of life.

Phoenix University has one of the sophisticated Science Laboratories in the country, as well as equipped ICT centre comprising specializations like Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, AI.

According to the Registrar, the university gained its license for operation in July 2023, while academics activities commenced in October 2024. The programmes currently run in the university are 24. “In the Faculty of Computing and Technology, we offer Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, and Information and Communication Technology.

“For Basic Science Faculty, we offer Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physics and Forensic Science. In the Faculty of Agriculture, the university has departments of Agricbusiness, Agriculture and Agriculture Economics. And for the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Phoenix University is offering Accounting, Banking and Finance, Public and Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Procurement and Project Management. Others are, Logistic and Supply Chain Management, economics, Political Science and International Relations and Diplomacy”, she stated.
