ATBU, alumni association partners in progress for development – ATBU VC declares

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi has disclosed that it has long established the tradition to stay in touch with its graduates which led the Governing Council Of The University to in August, 2017 established an Alumni Relations Division.
The division according to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Muhammad Abdul’azeez was to create linkage and establish mutual relationship between the University and its Alumni making the Division And The Association partners in progress. 
Speaking at ATBU NATIONAL ALUMNI STAKEHOLDERS  CONFERENCE held on Saturday in Bauchi, the VC represented by Nasiru Lawal Abdullahi urged the alumni to carry each other along in their undertakings  Expressing gratitude to  everyone of them present for sparing sometime to be at the conference . 
The VC explained that, “a decade ago,our University was a small and struggling institution. And if we talk about today, our graduates have widely spread in major areas of influence in the society; I would like to appreciate your efforts being done for the development o f our society and justifying the years spent by you at this esteemed University”.
He said that, “We Know that it takes a lot to take some time out of your busy schedule and come over. But, I Believe That The Experience Of This gathering which you will take home will be worth the time you-all have spared” .
He further said that, “I believe that our institution has now become one of the great institution of which our graduates can be proud of despite one or two challenges due to some contemporary issues such as in security, economy,and others” .
“It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome you all on the auspicious occasion of institution’s national alumni Association Stakeholders Conference.A day like today is very important for us, as it provides us the opportunity to meetwith many of our graduates after along time as well as provides the a chance to meet each other, their former lecturers and other members of the University. It also enable the alumni to notice the changes and developments in the University”, he said .

“Lastly, I would like to praise the multipleroles played by you in the society.Many of you hold key positions of major influence in the society; I would like to appreciate your efforts being done for the development of our society and justifying the years spent by you at this esteemed University.
Earlier in his welcome address, National President of ATBU Alumni Association, Mohammed Wada Katagum said that the conference was organized to bring the members together to discuss on issues affecting the University and how to intervene to ameliorate the problems. 
He added that having received training for the University and being its representatives across the country, the alumni members must look inward to understand the situation of the university and appreciate what the management is doing as partners in progress. 
The National President of the ATBU Alumni Association also commended the University for creating an alumni relations division stressing that it will foster positive relationship between the two bodies in the development of the instruction. 
He then assured the University that members of the Alumni Association will continue to represent the University well and positively in their various places of assignment just as he advised the members not to hesitate to speak out if anything goes wrong in the administration of the institution.
