Ayaa people in Bogoro local government of Bauchi translate Bible into their language, encourage use of local language for generational development

The National President of Boi Progressive Association (BPA) in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi State, Chief Philemon Jibson Kichime has said that the translation of the Gospel of Luke in to Teyaa Language embarked upon by the Teyaa Language Development Translation Committee is a landmark achievement.
The National President made the statement at the formal dedication and launching of the book of Luke and the reading and writing of a book in Teyaa language at the Boi Township hall recently.
Chief Philemon Kichime commended the Teyaa Language Development Committee for their sacrifice to make the reading of the word of God in their mother tongue possible.
He urged the Ayaa ethnic speaking group that the translation of the Bible is an opportunity for them to help people learn to read and write in the language they can understand.
The President however enjoined the people of Boi to develop interest in speaking the Teyaa language because according to him, the mother tongue will play a unique and significant role in the the development of the community.
In a speech, the National Director of Luke Initiative for Scripture Translation, (LIST), Mr. Enene N. Enene disclosed that the Teyaa is one of the eight languages of the Plateau cluster that has completed their initial goal-program from 2014-2018.
 He note that the project started after the participants received training in different skills including computer training for Bible translation, Dictionary making, translation of the Jesus` film script etc.
Mr. Enene N. Enene on behalf of the management of LIST and their consultants, Seed Company appreciated the people of Ayaa and those who labored very hard and who paid the supreme price in order to make the Bible available in Teyaa language.

In a remarks the Chairman, Teeya Bible Translation committee, Mr. Ezekiel Kyauta stated that the purpose of the translation to enable the people who are mainly Christians to experience greater spiritual growth.
 Mr. Ezekiel Kyauta stated that at the inception of the translation exercise, the committee encountered many challenges but with the support of spirited individuals the committee was able to overcome the hurdles.
Mr. Ezekiel Kyauta revealed that the translation work was commissioned in 2012 by the National body of the Boi Progressive Association with the support of the Luke Imitative for Scriptural Translation LIST and their partners.
He called on all Ayaa people to endeavor to own a copy of the reading and writing book and the Gospel of Luke as well as make every effort to learn to read and write in Teyaa language.
He expressed gratitude to churches in the community; individuals and organizations that contributed financially and morally toward the actualization of the translation project and urges them to continue to support the committee in their future engagement.
In a sermon, the Guest speaker, Venerable Samson Yusuf implored the people to read the Bible in their languages it will help them to know God.Venerable Yusuf noted that the Bible was originally written in the Hebrew and Greek language before it was translated to other local languages all over the world.
Quoting from the Book of Revelation 7.9, he revealed that the translation of the Bible in Teyaa language is timely and that the Ayaa people are now fully represented in this great multitude in heaven.
In a remark, the Village Head of Boi, Mr. Bala Ibrahim Likita on behalf of traditional rulers in the area, expressed gratitude to all who work to translate the Bible to Teyaa language.
Mr. Bala Ibrahim Likita assured the Translation committee of the support from the traditional rulers as contained in a statement by Gomna James, Information Officer, Bogoro LGA, Bauchi State.
