Bauchi ACReSAL project coordinator stresses need for alternative source of energy in Nigeria

The Bauchi State Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience and Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) Dr Ibrahim Kabir has stressed the need for alternative sources of energy in the country considering the unstable nature of power supply currently. 

Ibrahim Kabir who is also the Director General of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) was speaking when he led the State’s Technical Team to a workshop organized by the Federal Project Monitoring Unit (FPMU) of the ACReSAL project.
The Workshop was organized to discuss among other things, the project implementation manual, review and responses from stakeholders and adoption as well as the power of supervision by the Federal Project Monitoring Units/ State Project Monitoring Units, LICs etc.
The BASEPA DG who spoke as an Expert and professional Environmentalist, contributed immensely during the workshop, on the issue of alternative sources of energy which he said will help in protecting and preserving the forest reserves. 
He further implored the participants to be attentive through out workshop for  the overall success of the project stressing that such is needed if positive progress must be made in the renewable energy sector.
ACReSAL is a 6-year World Bank Project,  prioritizing actions within four components: Dryland Management, Community Climate Resilience, Institutional Strengthening and Project Management, and Contingent Emergency Response with the target to improve the capacity of the country to adapt to a changing climate, largely through enhancing multi-sectoral convergence.
The project also targets to resolve lingering issues across Environmental, Agricultural and Water Resources sectors in Nineteen (19) States in the Country.
The Workshop which which took place at the Rock View Hotel Abuja had in attendance States Project Coordinators and their Technical team from all the participating/ benefitting States as contained in a statement by Isyaka Laminu Badamasi, SA Media to DG BASEPA.
