He said, “Something very important of this nature can’t be going on in the social media and it will be used to confuse people without first verifying it because that figure did not come from our command”.
Adamu maintained that physical verification for some people shortlisted for final screening is currently ongoing in Bauchi for the North East Zone, and those from Bauchi as host centre will be conducted from upper week Thursday after attaining to those from other states.
Making further case against the recruitment bias, he said the process except for the final one of physical screening/verification of shortlisted candidates in is done online.
Giving the Application breakdown which started since 2019, the Civil Defence PRO in the state said, “A total of 1,474,149 applied for the job, 670,000 were invited to upload and 200,000 responded to uploading while 53,116 wrote CBT, But 6,500 were shortlisted for final screening out of which 5,000 will be employed”.
Bauchi State House of Assembly had earlier accused the Corps, Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Immigration Service of lopsided recruitment process.
Jamilu Umaru Dahiru, member representing Bauchi Central Constituency had during a plenary while speaking under matters of urgent public importance drew the attention of the members to the issue.
According to the member who said that he has obtained the recruitment list, 579 people from the North-East subregion were recruited out of which Bauchi State got only 7 and even the 7 names from Bauchi sound strange and unfamiliar which clearly show that they are not indigenes of Bauchi State.
The issue which sparked deplorable reaction from other members culminated on the House to set up committees to address the issue and related ones as well as a charge on the state government to come in to address the concern which they perceived as often reoccurring in Federal appointments.
