Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) introduction of heavy duty fire extinguishers paid off as it was used to safe the lives of passengers trapped in a commercial vehicle that caught fire while on motion.
The incident occurred when a Sharon VW mini bus went on flames along the Bauchi – Dass Federal Highway fully loaded with passengers but the timely arrival of FRSC personnel with the fire extinguisher truck saved the vehicle and the passengers from being burnt.
Reacting to the development, the Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi explained that the home grown initiative of equiping the Operational vehicles with heavy capacity fire (6kg and 9Kg) extingushers was borne out of constant fire outbreak of Humma and Sharon buses in the case of Road Traffic Crashes.
Yusuf Abdullahi said that the Command has constantly sustained the recharging of the 9kg in each of the Patrol vehicles including the Ambulances after every 90 days, with a huge sum of money and it has helped in most cases.

Following the development, the general public applued the Corps as they commend the prompt response saying in Hausa that, “Masu aiikin sun zo dakayan aiikin, Allah ya taimakeku” translate in English to mean (the real workers have arrived well equipped to work, may God support you).
The Sector Commander then assured that the Command will continue to be pro-active as we ensure safety of lives and properties on our roads.
