Governor Bala Mohammed assents to the bills

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has assented to the 2024 appropriations bill with a firm commitment to ensure effective budget execution.

The Governor on Thursday also appended his signature on other laws passed by the Bauchi State House of Assembly including a bill on the provision and protection of children’s Rights Act and other related matters of 2023, a bill on the establishment of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sanitation Commission of 2023, a bill on the establishment of the state agency for rural water supply and sanitation RUWASSA as well as a bill on the amendment of the Bauchi State Agency for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (BASOVCA). 

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Babayo Akuyam, while presenting the bills for the Governor’s assent, said that they are under legislative scrutiny and are for the betterment of the state and its people.

Akuyam confirmed the readiness of the Members of the State Assembly to support his administration to enable it to succeed.

While speaking, the Governor said that his administration has since prioritized people-oriented policies and programs in the 2024 appropriations bill as approved by the assembly. 

He said that in conjunction with members, projects and policies that have direct impact on people’s lives throughout the twenty local government areas will be executed.

Mohammed pointed out that the two laws on the law on children’s rights, the amendment of the agency for orphans and vulnerable children, have been carefully studied in line with the culture and traditions of the people in order to protect the future of children.

On the water revitalization law, the Governor said that it will greatly help address the perennial shortage of water in most areas.

The Governor used the forum to appeal to the people of the state to continue supporting his administration to enable success, pledging not to fail the people.
