Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has commended the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Christian Community for the working synergy, collaboration, mutual understanding, cooperation and prayer that have sustained his administration since 2019.
The Governor was speaking on Sunday at the 2025 CAN Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons held at the First Baptist Church, Yandoka Road, Bauchi, with the theme: “The Saviour and the Prince of Peace is Born” taken from isaiah 9:6.
Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Affairs (Christian), Pastor Zakka Luka Magaji, the Governor stressed that, “You have been rendering prayers for our administration. I am much aware that to every success, the spiritual background is the pillar, and is the strong power, and is the fundamental support to every success.”
He added that, “And CAN has been praying tirelessly for us, in order for us to succeed, in order for us to deliver the good dividends of democracy. And I am humbly and proudly confessing and testifying that all the success is attributed to the prayer that you people rendered for us and the Christian community and the good people of Bauchi State at large.
“And also, I want to reaffirm our commitment to continue delivering good dividends of democracy to the people of Boche State without any discrimination. All we are soliciting for, is your continous support and cooperation.”
In his remarks, Pastor Magaji, stated that,”I’m just coming from a place that the Governor sent us to represent him, and right away there’s another engagement somewhere that we will be proceeding to. And I want to say, without fear or favour, his administration has bridged the gaps, has brought us together.”
According to him,”If there’s any true reflection of Nigeria, now is his Bauchi State. As the Bible says, when the righteous rule, the people rejoice. We can see the atmosphere of peace. We can see the atmosphere of progress. We can see the atmosphere of development. We can see the atmosphere of inclusivity in governance. We can see the atmosphere where everybody go about his normal business without intimidation, without fear, without harassment.”
Zakka Luka Magaji added that,
“Therefore, we still solicit for your continuous support and prayers. More especially, as the end of the tenure of my boss is coming to an end, we need to go to our knees. So that what we’re enjoying in his own time, God should give us a God-fearing leader that will take after him. So that what we’re enjoying, and what we’re witnessing, and what we’re benefiting, it will continue, it will be sustained, and at the same time, we will keep progressing, and we will keep maintaining the free crisis society.”
Earlier in his opening remarks, Rev. Dr. Abraham Damina Dimeus, CAN Chairman Bauchi state Chapter, titled: “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All”, stated that the Carol, an annual event, was organised to bring Christians together to prepare for the Christmas season.
He stressed that, “As we gathered to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we give thanks to God for the gift of salvation and the joy of Christmas. This season is a time of love, peace, and goodwill, and we are grateful to be alive to experience it.”
