Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed with orphans and vulnerable children at the Government House

Bauchi state Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir on Saturday organized a get together lunch for orphans and other vulnerable children drawn from orphanage homes and communities within the state capital to mark his second year anniversary in office. 
The Governor along side his Wife, Aisha Bala Mohammed, his Deputy, Sen Bala Tela and wife as well as other top Government functionaries fate the children at the Ramat House, Bauchi in what was a departure from festivities associated with such celebrations.
While speaking at  the occasion, the Governor explained that the idea to organize the feast for the orphans and Vulnerable Children was aimed at carrying them along and giving them sense of belonging noting that they have suffered neglect and rejection by the society. 

Bala Mohammed further said that the tradition over the years was that government officials and politicians converged to celebrate democracy days and anniversaries amidst pomp and pegeantary saying that his government decided to have a departure in the occasion this year in order to make the vulnerable children happy.
According to him, “the state government through the Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA) would continue to assist orphans and support them to be useful citizens of the society” .
The governor also urged wealthy citizens to set up foundations and corporate organizations to provide charity to the less privileged citizens in order to mitigate poverty in the country.
While reviewing the last two years of his administration, Bala Mohammed boasted that he has done much in the areas of infrastructures development promising that government would also come up with social welfare programs for the good of the people of the state.
Earlier, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Ladan Salihu said that, “As we planned the activities of the day, the Governor changed everything and told us to put together a lunch with the orphans and Vulnerable Children in the state as a mark of respect for them”. 
He added that, “though it came to us as a surprise, we later came to understand that the Governor has a meek heart, he is always concerned about the welfare of the people of the state. What he has done today is a mark Humility and patriotism.”
Ladan Salihu who expressed delight in the success of the event described it as one of its kind in the state because according to him,” these orphans and Vulnerable Children will now know that they have a father who really cares for them in the Governor “
At the end of the lunch, the Governor distributed different gift items to the children including cash for their upkeep just as the staff taking care of them also got rewards from the Governor. 
Earlier, Chairperson of BASOVCA, Hassana Arkila commended the Governor for the attention he has given the children since he came as the Governor saying that the Agency has been repositioned and made more effective and result oriented. 
Hassana Arkila further said that the center as well as other homes under the Agency are now doing well in terms of welfare of the children appealing however for more attention which she said the children need in order to be at home.
