Bauchi Governor media adviser challenges social media handlers on constructive engagement

The social media handlers in Bauchi State have been challenged on constructive engagement with the state government for possible improvement in the implementation of its people’s oriented and designed policies and programmes in the interest of the citizens.

Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Media and Publicity, Comrade Muktar Gidado, gave the challenge at the 3rd edition of the Bauchi Facebook connect held in Bauchi Wednesday.

He observed that the role of social media in connecting people, disseminating information and driving Social change can not be over emphasized.

Gidado advice the participants of the  Facebook Connect to uphold ethical standards, promote accurate information, and foster respectful dialogue and guard against the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and divisive rhetorics that can discord and undermine the fabric of the society.

He said the theme of this year’s event, “Fostering Unity for Better Performance and Productivity,”  is very much in line with the core principles of social media engagement, hence the need for the state government to harness the potential of social media to promote understanding, and build cohesive communities.

“It is with great pleasure and honor that I stand before you as the guest of honor at the 3rd edition of the Bauchi State Facebook Connect. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for inviting me to be part of this momentous event aimed at fostering unity and enhancing the productivity of social media handlers in our beloved state.

“Social media provides us with a platform to celebrate our diversity, amplify marginalized voices, and work together towards achieving common goals. The landscape of social media is constantly evolving, and we must adapt accordingly to stay ahead. By sharing best practices, exchanging ideas, and collaborating on innovative projects, we can elevate the standard of social media engagement in Bauchi State and even beyond.

“I am happy to inform you that the Government of His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed has placed high premium on the development of social media. This is in addition to the provision of vehicles to Social Media platforms of Kaura Social Media Forum, Kaura Social Media Support Group and of recent Labari daga Bauchi and other complementary assistance to our social media handlers and bloggers,” he said.

Comrade Gidado reaffirmed his commitment as the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to unity, progress, and excellence in social media and expressed confidence that Facebook Connect may be a catalyst for positive change and meaningful connections.

Guest speakers at the occasion, Comrade Sabo Mohammed and Muktar Jarmajo appealed to the participants to embrace the modern techniques for effective utilisation of social media platforms to serve it purpose.
