Bauchi Governor Mohammed mourns death of journalist Habila

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and associates of Mr. Iliya Habila,who passed away Thursday in Bauchi after a protracted illness.
Governor Mohammed described late Habila as an exemplary journalist whose integrity, courage, and professionalism set him apart in the media landscape.
As former Chairman of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Bauchi, and Secretary of the NUJ Adamawa Council, he demonstrated unwavering dedication to the ethics of journalism and to the pursuit of truth.
He said his contributions enriched public discourse and strengthened the democratic space in our state and beyond.
“In public service, Mr. Habila distinguished himself through his humility, competence, and rare leadership qualities. He dutifully served as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Bogoro Local Government Area and was also elected Executive Chairman of the Local Government during my administration. In these capacities,he worked tirelessly for the development and unity of his people,leaving behind a legacy of service, accountability, and compassion,” the Governor said.
Until his passing, Mr. Habila remained a committed and loyal member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), advocating for progress, good governance,and peaceful coexistence.
His loyalty, wisdom, and gentle disposition will be sorely missed by his colleagues, the government,and all who had the privilege of working with him.
At this difficult moment, Governor Mohammed prayed that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest, comforts his family, and give them the strength to bear this great loss.
