Bauchi Governor rescues accident victims, orders prompt treatment, offsets medical bill

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Saturday evening participated in a rescue operation on his way from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport when his convey run into an accident in which 5 people were injured.
The Governor personally joined the rescue team to give a help hands to the victims of the accident which occurred on the Bauchi-Kano road closed to the Air Force Base Around the International Airport at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) main campus in Gubi.
The governor, who returned to Bauchi from Abuja, where he attended the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, through the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, stopped his convoy on reaching the accident scene and directed that the victims be conveyed to the hospital in one of the cars in his convoy.
The Governor was said to have personally led the rescue operation in which five victims, who sustained varying degree of injuries, were rescued and rushed to the hospital after getting first aid attention from the medical personnel in his convoy.
The accident, it was gathered involved two Opel Vectra coming from opposite directions and had a head on collision causing injuries on the victims.
According to the Director of Press, Government House, Alhassan Suleiman Dambam, the Governor ordered that the victims be evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.
Alhassan Dambam added that the Governor undertook to offset the medical expenses of all the victims directing that they be given prompt medical treatment.
While confirming the accident, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bauchi State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rilwanu Sulaiman, said that five persons were injured, while no one died in the accident.
