Bauchi Governor suspends Emir of Misau, other traditional rulers

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has announced the suspension of the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, the District Head of Chiroma and the village head of Zadawa in Misau Local government.

The suspension, according to the governor was to pave way for full-scale investigation into the unfortunate clash between herders and farmers in Zadawa which led to the loss of lives and property.

The state governor announced the suspension at the inauguration of the committee of inquiry into the incident headed by retired air commodore Tijanni Gamawa at the council chamber of the Government House.

Mohammed who expressed sadness over the incident blamed local government administrator’s, community leaders for their role in the illegal allocation of land which was supposed to be cattle route.

He directed that the suspended emir and his subjects to remain in Misau and should submit themselves to the committee of enquiry for questioning.

Mohammed assured that anyone found involved in the illegal act of land encroachment will face the wrath of the law.

The committee which has three weeks to submit it report, will determine the level of encroachment in the affected places, identify all those involved in the allocation of the cattle route and the occupants and to identify lives and property loss and those injured.

The governor also swears in sole administrator of Misau Local government Alhaji Isa Kufai following the earlier suspension of the caretaker committee chairman, his Deputy and secretary.

Mohammed charged him to work in harmony with critical stakeholders to maintain peace and order in the LGA.
