Bauchi Health Commissioner commends IHP for supporting growth, development of health sector

Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr Adamu Sambo has commended United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Integrated Health Programme (IHP) for supporting the state in healthcare delivery services over the years. 

The Commissioner was speaking on Thursday during the IHP Bauchi pause and reflect learning session for quarter 3 of the year 2023 held at in Bauchi. 

Adamu Bello said that IHP has really complemented the efforts of the State in its efforts to achieve the set objectives of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Bauchi State. 

He stressed that, “It is always good to pause and Reflect to see what you have done in order to improve on it, see the challenges you are facing and what are the possible solutions to problems.” 

“As s new Commissioner, I have seen lot of abbreviations in the presentations, some of them required decoding to understand, but, it is a good thing to hear progress report from collaborating agencies.”

According to him, “IHP has been very good to us in the state, it is very unfortunate that I am coming onbaord as Commissioner when IHP is winding up its program in the state, but thank God, I am coming from a meeting where USAID has assured of another project that is going to replace IHP to continue with the good work IHP has done.”

The Commissioner added that,”and I believe that I will not hesitate to ensure and facilitate the letter of request in that regard. We will continue to partner with all other agencies for the development of the health sector of the state.” 

Earlier, the State Director of IHP, Dr Siaka Alhassan stressed that the Quarterly Pause and Reflect meeting was aimed at allowing the USAID funded collaborating partners the opportunity to give account of their achievements and challenges for the period under review and chat a way forward. 

Represented by Dr Robinson Yusuf, the IHP State Director said that as the flagship project of the IHP, it is working in Nine thematic areas working across the 20 LGAs of the state while at the facility area, it is working in over 400 facilities comprising PHCs and a few Secondary facilities.
