Bauchi Judicial Commission appoints seven Judges, seven Upper Sharia Court Judges, discipline others

Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has recently confirmed the appointments of seven high court staff as magistrates and upgrade seven lower Sharia Court judges to Upper Sharia Court judges.
This was conveyed in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Bauchi by Dr. Ibrahim Danjuma, the JSC Secretary where he pointed that five staff were punished by the commission.
According to the release the newly appointed magistrates are, Sadiq Mohammed Abubakar Esq. Chief Magistrate 11, Aminu Umar Esq; Chief Magistrate II, Sani Maigari Isah Esq; Senior Magistrate, Bintu Umar Mustapha; Senior Magistrate I, Abdullahi Adamu Sarki Esq, Ha’inatu Ahmed Esq; Senior Magistrate I and Mohammed Sani Yakubu as Senior Magistrate I.
Those upgraded from Lower Sharia Court judges to upper Shari’ah Court judges include Hafizu A. Nuhu, Abdullahi Tijjarni, Umar Zakari Yakubu Esq, Dr. A.S. Adam Bello Esq., Nuhu Idris Mohammed, Isa Mohammed Bauchi and Ibrahim Ibrahim Water Esq.
The JSC Secretary also confirmed the Commissions dismissal of Rabiu Idris Shall Esq. (Principal Registrar) from service, due to his wilful act; misconduct prejudice to discipline and absence from duty without leave, an act unbecoming of a public officer, unruly behavior and refusal to take/carry out lawful instruction from a Superior Officer contrary to Section 4 Regulation 0327 (a) (i), (iii) (v), (xxix) and Section 3 of 0312 (xii) and (xx) of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, 2023.
The statement informed that the Commission accepted the recommendation of its Disciplinary Committee for the compulsory retirement of Saleh Ahmed Fanti Esq. (Chief Magistrate, Magistrate Court Darazo) from service for gross misconduct (failure to deliver judgment within the statutory period; wilful act; misconduct prejudice to discipline and proper conduct of government and an act unbecoming of a Public Officer) contrary to Section 4 Regulation 0327 (a) (i), (iii) (xii) and (xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, 2023.
“The Commission has accepted the recommendation of its Disciplinary Committee for the removal of Hamza Mato Zungur Esq. as an Upper Sharia Court Judge, and his subsequent conversion to the Registrar Cadre, owing to gross misconduct (tampering with the subject matter of a case), wilful act, misconduct, prejudice to discipline and proper conduct of government and an act unbecoming of a Public Officer contrary to Section 4 Regulation 0327 (a) (i), (iii) and (xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, 2023.
“A warning letter was issued to Mukhtar Muhammad Bello (Sharia Court Judge, Gadau) and Mohammed Ismail (Upper Sharia Court Judge, Gumau) respectively, and their next promotions have been deferred by one year,” the statement stated.
