Bauchi local government employees union laments salary delay, blames ‘consultants’ sanitising payroll

The Nigeria Union of Local government Employees, Bauchi State Council, has decried the delay in the release of their salaries pointing accusing fingers on ‘Consultants’ tasked to sanitise the payroll scheme against in the state.

NULGE President in the state, Comrade Mohammed Yunusa who stated this conern in interview with Apex News Exclusive in Bauchi.

According to him, most of their workers have not received January and February salaries, even after they have been verified.

“I am aware that the money had been approved, by the state government but the ‘Consultants’ in charge of releasing the money are delaying it,” he lamented.

“Even as I am speaking to you now some of our workers are being owed four, seven and nine months salaries, and the last time we met with the audithing firm controlling it we were told we will receive the salaries by March.

“Until I see, it is not true as same thing happened in January and they told us February.
We are pleading to allow Local government service commission, audit unit at the Local Level see to the payment and scrutinisation of workers’ salaries,” he said.

The President noted with dismay the activities of the consulting firm handling the issues of salaries in the state insisting that they are sabotaging the efforts of Bauchi State Government.

Comrade Yunusa who frowned at ghost workers syndrome added that his Union will support the government in dealing with anybody that is aiding the infiltration of ghost workers into the payroll of local government.

“What we are saying is that those involved in the ghost working syndrom should be punished, but the innocent ones should not be suffering it too”, he maintained.

“Regarding Local government autonomy, the union is making consultation among its stakeholders before meeting the Governor to seek his consent, once we are set we will meet him”, he added.
