Bauchi NUJ congress passes vote of confidence on Chairman, Umar, other Exco members

The Congress of Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) during its session held on Wednesday, passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the State Working Committee (SWC) union under the leadership of the Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu,.
The vote of confidence according to members in attendance, was based on their satisfaction with the numerous achievements recorded within the last three years of the leadership and recommended for a second tenure for the entire EXCO members.
According to a communique issued at the end of the Congress, members also ratified the nomination of a seven member Electoral Committee for onward transmission to the National Secretariat for approval, to conduct fresh election into the offices of the State Working Committee.
The Congress urged members of the Union to continue to operate within the ambit of the NUJ Constitution and Code of Ethics to avoid misinformation and ensure that they fact-checked their stories to uphold their integrity which is instrumental to the pillars of democracy.
The Congress further commended the National Secretariat of the Union under the able leadership of Chief Chris Isiguzo for supporting the Bauchi State Council to record the huge success.
The Congress also commended the Bauchi State Government for its efforts in revitalizing the state-owned media organisations, urging it to hasten the completion of the upgrade of the organisations.

Journalists at the Congress
The meeting called on the security operatives to intensify efforts of checking the activities of hoodlums in order to ensure the protection of lives and properties of law abiding citizens.
The Congress in session also called on the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) to improve power supply and address the issue of excessive billings.
The Communique was signed by the Secretary of the Council, Isa Garba Gadau while members of Drafting Committee were: Nasiru Abdullahi Kọbi, Susan Edeh and Silas Shentukwak.
The Congress had in attendance, 103 members, as well as the Managing Director of Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Chindo Waziri, Acting Managing Director, Bauchi State Television (BATV) Usman Baba, Chairman, Advisory Council, Ibrahim Idris Shall and it was supervised by the National ex-officio, Abubakar Musa Waziri.
