Bauchi pays N19.5m counterpart fund for World Bank-assisted programme

Bauchi State Government has paid N19.5million as its counterpart funding to the World Bank-assisted programme targeted towards reducing poverty in the state.
The State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed unfolded this at the flagging off of the 2nd cycle of 20,416 beneficiaries of Public Work Fare (PWF) component of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in Bauchi.
The Governor said the state government had keyed into the project due to the positive impact it has to youth and women empowerment initiative in the state.
He noted that to eliminate the involvement of youth in social vices, his administration would further focus attention towards ensuring their engagement in veritable ventures.
The governor who observed that no nation could develop if its citizens were in poor condition, assured that programmes geared at poverty reduction would be initiated by the state government.
Coordinator of the programme, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu disclosed that beneficiaries were selected from 14 local government areas of the state and that approval has also been given to capture the remaining of the six local governments under the programme.
