Bauchi Police arraign suspected criminals over robbery, murder

As parts of sustained efforts to tame crimes and criminalities in the state, the Bauchi State Police Command says it has arrested suspected criminals and robbers including those who whisked a motorcycle rider and later had him dead.
The Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a press release on Friday indicated that the success is equally credited to manpower deployments, intelligence gathering and technological driven methodologies in its series of operations.
According to the release, following outcries and complaints by one male Maxwell Meshach of Yelwa, that some hoodlums trespassed into his house and threatened to deprive him of his life with dangerous weapons, the Command’s Operation Restore Peace (ORP) Swift into action.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the team of operatives while acting on credible Intelligence stormed into the suspected criminal’s hideout situated at Yelwan Makaranta and arrested the following persons; Arinze Prince m 24yrs, Tobi Abubakar m 24yrs, Daniel Friday m 25yrs.

“During the arrest, the following items were recovered: One (1) locally made pistol with two (2) rounds of live ammunition, One (1) toy pistola, one (1) machete, six (6) cartridges, four (4) laptops, one (1) laptop charger, one (1) laptop battery, five (5) Android phones with one keypad phone, one power Bank, one mp3 Head phone,” the release read in part.
It adds that all suspects during interrogation, confessed to the the crime and would be charged to court on completion of investigation that is still ongoing.
Also, the release informed that one Ibrahim Umar m of Kangere ward, Bauchi LGA had reported the missing of his younger brother one Muhammad Tukur, an okada rider to A Divisional Headquarters after which particulars of the missing person were obtained and disseminated to the various areas within Bauchi and beyond.
The release hence chronicled that, “Subsequently, on 09/04/2023 at about 1600hrs, information was received from Maina-Maji Divisional Headquarters that a decomposed male corpse was sighted at Shinge village forest, Alkaleri LGA which was later identified to be the missing person.
“During the Investigation, it was revealed that one Hashimu Adamu m aged 22yrs of Badaqoshi village Alkaleri LGA, and Anas Muhammed m aged 23yrs of Kangere ward, Bauchi were the last passenger sighted with the okada ridder heading to Badaqoshi village.
“Consequently, detectives attached to the Command swiftly swung into action and arrested the aforesaid passengers for interrogation.
“During the interrogation, the suspects confessed that on 04/04/2023 at about 0800hrs they criminally conspired amongst themselves to lure Muhammad Tukur “okada man” now deceased to take them to Badaqoshi village Alkaleri LGA, on reaching Shinge village, they stabbed him on his abdomen with a sharp knife afterwards slaughter him and abandoned the dead body therein and made away with his Bajaj motorcycle”, it read.
The release further submitted that the dead body has been evacuated to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi for examination and has been confirmed dead by the medical practitioner.
SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in the release reinstated that as investigation is ongoing after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution, the Command’s resolve to continue clapping down on all forms of criminality in the state remains unshakable no matter how daunting it may seem.
